Job Searching Equals No Fun

So this is pretty much my last week of volleyball practice so I am in the process of job hunting right now...Not fun! I did get a job as an income tax preparor, but I have to do alot of training on my own time before I start, the guy signed me into tax school and I have 2 classes I have to finish and I started yesterday, but there is soo much work, it is going to take me atleast a month I'm thinking to finish them so I'm still keeping my eyes open for a better job that does not require so much training (because I'm not getting paid to do these classes). So I have been looking online, but there aren't alot of way good jobs available in Cedar, especially at this time of year, most of them open up in the summer when students leave. But I have applied to a few places that I'm waiting to hear back from, hopefully something opens up for me..Today I had an interview with Primerica, I saw that they were looking for someone on the SUU website so I sent them a resume and they called me up for an interview. Well it was probably the worst interview of my life! I did good at it because they want me to come in for a second interview, but the guy was kinda a jerk so it's def. not a job that I'm interested in. I didn't really know what Primerica was before I went, but it's like a sales job, basically I'd have to try and sale insurance and then do debt consolodation. It's like a pyramid scheme kinda, you get people to work under you haha..so not really my thing. But basically he went off on me because I want to be a school counselor, he tried to tell me that school counseling is the worst field to go into, that I wouldn't be any good at it, and I'll never make enough money to survive doing it. Then he just said a few other things that bothered me, so I left the interview wanting to cry haha...It was bad, so basically he's going to call me today to set up a second interview and I am going to have to turn it down, it's just not for me. But he made me feel like a complete idiot for wanting to be a school counselor, so after the interview I was questioning if I was doing the right thing. But then I had an appointment with my academic advisor, who has a pyschology degree and she reassured me that it is a good field to go into and shared some of her experiences and I feel alot better now haha...Anyways wish me luck on finding a job, I'm hoping I can find something good!

Hey Ash! Sorry about your interview! Don't you just love it when complete strangers try to tell you how to live your life! Crazy people!! Anyways, I'm glad you're still going towards being a counselor! I think you'd be fantastic at it and if it's what you want to do, go for it!

Hey Ashley, its katie from emery! Well I had to leave a comment. I am SO bugged right now because of your horrible experience! Bodie and I work with Primerica and have since May. We work for an office in St. George, NOT cedar. They are HORRIBLE! First of all, they shouldnt be posting stuff online asking for people. They ARE NOT suppose to do that. Second, there is NO reason that you should have had to do an "interview". That is NOT how it works. It is life insurance and debt consolidation, but I am telling you, it is the best company. They are unreal, and exploding right now. We have been able to get so many families the right kind of life insurance, as well as saving them so much money. Its been a great experience for us. I am so so sad that you have a bad taste in you mouth. I am so sick of the cedar office doing that to people! its COMPLETELY different in St. George. It's the #1 office in the whole nation. It blows my mind when I hear what the cedar office does. I am sorry this is so long, but I love this company and its been so rewarding for us. I guess you could almost say I have a testimony for it. If you ever want to check out st george, just to even see the difference so you know its not bad, then PLEASE let me know. I just want you to see that it isnt as bad as they made it out to be. No one should ever tell you that your going into a dumb career. That's so rude. I think I may just call them up and tell them to quit do all that. It gives us SUCH a bad name! Anyway, sorry that happened...talk to you later. Katie Wilson

I promise that all people who interview people aren't jerks! haha jk but really that is pretty dumb... I'm sorry that people suck. When he calls back, what do you have to lose by telling him how he made you feel and why you aren't interested? I would do it... you got spunk; just do it...

Hey sweetie, You are planning on entering a very meaningful and noble line of work. You will be great at it. I have 2 friends that are school counselors and they find it very rewarding. No, it's not lucrative. But some of the poorest people I know are the happiest people I know, and some of the wealthiest people I know are miserable. Follow your heart and do what you love. That will never disappoint you! I love you and wish you luck in the job search. Aunt Melissa
